Closing Manager

About the Opportunity

A rapidly growing mortgage technology company is looking for a Closing Manager to lead and scale its closing function. This person will be responsible for managing day-to-day closing operations, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring loans move efficiently and accurately from clear-to-close through funding.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on mortgage closing leader with deep knowledge of closing disclosures, TRID, compliance, funding, investor requirements, and closing operations, combined with strong people-management and process-improvement skills.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage a team of mortgage closers, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management


• Oversee daily closing operations and ensure loans move efficiently through the closing pipeline


• Monitor pipeline volume, turn times, quality, and team productivity


• Support closers with complex or escalated files and help resolve issues quickly


• Review and oversee preparation of Closing Disclosures and closing packages


• Ensure closing activities comply with TRID, RESPA, QM, investor, agency, and company requirements


• Oversee funding processes and ensure closing and funding packages are complete and accurate


• Partner closely with underwriting, processing, post-closing, sales, and operations teams to resolve issues and keep loans moving


• Establish and improve closing workflows, procedures, and SOPs


• Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and improve the borrower and employee experience


• Partner with product and technology teams to improve closing workflows and support automation


• Monitor quality-control results and implement corrective actions where needed


• Help build scalable closing processes and infrastructure as the organization grows


• Stay current on changes to mortgage regulations, investor requirements, and closing practices

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of mortgage closing experience, with meaningful leadership or management experience


• Proven experience managing, mentoring, or leading mortgage closers


• Strong understanding of the full closing lifecycle, from clear-to-close through funding


• Deep knowledge of Closing Disclosures, TRID, RESPA, QM, and applicable investor requirements


• Experience with conventional, FHA, VA, and/or other residential mortgage products


• Strong understanding of funding requirements and post-closing handoffs


• Experience managing high-volume closing pipelines


• Ability to troubleshoot complex closing issues and provide guidance to the team


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to closing quality and compliance


• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills


• Strong operational and organizational skills


• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment


• A process-oriented mindset with an interest in improving and scaling mortgage operations

Nice to Have

• Experience in a fintech, mortgage technology, or high-growth lending environment


• Experience building or scaling a closing department


• Experience developing closing SOPs, workflows, or quality-control processes


• Encompass or other mortgage LOS experience


• Experience partnering directly with product or engineering teams


• Experience with workflow automation and process optimization


• Multi-state closing experience


• Experience across both closing and post-closing operations
