Job Description - Northern Regional Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION



Location: Remote with easy access to Albuquerque / Santa Fe



BASIC FUNCTION:


 


To assist county Farm Bureaus in agricultural engagement and promotion.  To direct and coordinate organization development, provide training, guide county leaders, and assist them in planning, creating, and implementing programs and activities. Regional manager will work with counties to promote membership growth, advocate for agriculture, and implement the policies of New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau (NMF&LB).  Assist in planning, organizing, and carrying out responsibilities and priorities set by leadership.  Assist the Director of Government Affairs in legislative and regulatory issues in Santa Fe.   


 


RESPONSIBILITES:


 



  1. Initiate and advise strategies that support and build strong and effective county farm bureaus.

  2. Build strong relationships with county Farm Bureau boards and serve as a liaison between the county Farm Bureaus and New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau.

  3. Serve as a resource to assist county Farm Bureaus in developing and implementing initiatives that have high impact and demonstrate value to membership.

  4. Grow membership and retention in each assigned county Farm Bureau.

  5. Market member benefits. 

  6. Promote county participation and involvement in programs and activities.

  7. Assist county Farm Bureaus in the development and implementation of timely, effective marketing and communication strategies.

  8. Train county board member leadership and encourage participation in state leadership development programs.

  9. Engage young farmers, ranchers, and other ag professionals to participate in Farm Bureau activities at the local, state, and national level.

  10. Maintain close relationships with Farm Bureau Financial Services agents to build awareness of Farm Bureau benefits and programs.

  11. Understand and know Farm Bureau policies.

  12. Assist in the activities of New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau.

  13. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other industry groups

  14. Attend meetings and provide comprehensive reports.

  15. Prepare and submit written and oral comments on rules and regulations that affect 


           agriculture at the local, state, and federal levels. Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials.


   16.  Provide support to Director of Government Affairs.


   17.   Advise counties on policy development.


   18.  Work with assigned State Issue Advisory Committee(s).


   19.  Support leadership programs within New Mexico Farm & Livestock Bureau.


   20.  As needed assist the Director of Government Affairs during legislative session.


   21.  Perform additional duties as may be assigned or necessary.


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


 



  1. Must possess a bachelor’s degree.

  2. Team player. Must be able to contribute to the overall mission and vision of the organization while supporting your fellow teammates.

  3. Excellent communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups and organizations.

  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as a self-starter.

  5. Time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced and stressful environment. Ability to meet tight deadlines while producing quality work.

  6. Ability to build consensus and relationships among county board members, partners, and volunteers. 

  7. Must have clean driving record. 

  8. Proficient in computer applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite.

  9. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing programs. 

  10. Knowledge of legislative process is a plus.

  11. Work experience in agriculture or related field a plus. 

  12. Critical thinking skills and ability to utilize good judgment. 

  13. Ability to work in a professional manner and encourage and support bi-partisan efforts, holding yourself and the NMF&LB brand to the highest standard. 

  14. Excellent research skills. 

  15. Have knowledge of the legislative process. Experience in public policy is desired. 


 


REQUIREMENTS:


 



  1. Excellent written and oral communication. 

  2. Must be willing to work odd hours (weekends, evenings and some late-night travel required) with an ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work longer hours as needed.

  3. Position requires extensive travel within the state.

  4. Repeated use of computer, cell phone, and office machines. Extended periods of sitting and concentrating. 

  5. Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and moving items weighing up to 25 lbs. in an office or field environment. 




SALARY:


 


$40K-$52K Based on experience and job qualifications
