VirtDrop is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Ophthalmology Medical Billing Virtual Assistant to support a medical practice based in the United States. This remote position requires a candidate with hands-on background and technical knowledge in ophthalmology-specific medical billing and revenue cycle management.

To ensure seamless integration, the recruitment strategy follows a phased hiring model. We are initially recruiting a single qualified medical billing professional who will work closely with the practice before expanding the remote billing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Ophthalmology Billing & Coding: Accurately prepare, code, and submit medical billing claims specific to ophthalmology procedures and consultations.


• Claims Management & Follow-up: Monitor submitted claims, identify rejections or denials, and file necessary appeals or corrections to ensure timely reimbursement.


• Accounts Receivable: Work through aging reports, conduct routine account reconciliation, and manage billing communications.


• Verification & Documentation: Ensure patient insurance benefits, eligibility, and authorization details match US clinical standards.


• Practice Coordination: Collaborate directly with doctor office management to streamline overall billing workflows.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

• Ophthalmology Billing Experience: Candidates must possess prior, direct medical billing experience in the ophthalmology field. 


• English Proficiency: High-level spoken and written English fluency is essential to effectively coordinate with US insurance providers and medical staff. Spanish proficiency is not required.


• Technical Equipment: Dedicated home office with a secure, reliable high-speed internet connection and familiarity with practice management software.


• Professional Attributes: Exceptional accuracy, strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and adherence to patient privacy standards.
