Job Description - Outside Sales Representative

Tomales Bay Foods, the distribution arm of Cowgirl Creamery, is looking for a dynamic Outside Sales Representative. This position plays a key role in the growth and success of the business and requires a strong understanding of B2B sales tactics, utilizing cheese, specialty, and industry expertise, relationship building, and development. In this position, individuals take ownership of their customer segment and how they can best achieve sales in line with TBF goals.

Primary territory focus: San Franscisco, East Bay, and Marin County.

This position is remote but requires regular travel throughout the Bay Area, as well as trips to our office in Petaluma, CA. 

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets, leveraging market insights and industry trends to drive growth.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs and providing tailored solutions to enhance their menus and offerings.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within their dedicated sector, primarily focusing on cheese-related products.
  • Nurture potential leads to become sales opportunities and move new customers through the sales process.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on cheese varieties, origins, flavor profiles, and pairings, providing valuable insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Develop and coordinate dissemination of product information and new sales methods to sales channel partners.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments, utilizing this knowledge to identify new opportunities and adapt sales approaches accordingly.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives and superior customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and market feedback, providing regular reports and insights to management.

What You Bring:

  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience with a focus on cheese and/or other specialty food products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and building strong client relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of specialty food and artisanal cheese.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Effective and comfortable working independently, prioritizing tasks, and managing time well.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the designated sales territory.
