Job Description - Payroll Specialist

A payroll specialist at our company, Payroll Consultants, is chiefly responsible for managing our payroll system and ensuring that all employees receive their salaries timely and accurately. This role is challenging and rewarding, suitable for individuals with outstanding math and organization skills. The successful candidate will have minute attention to detail and a passion for numbers, alongside a knack for maintaining the integrity of the financial data of a firm. We are seeking a proficient multi-tasker with excellent time management abilities.

Key Responsibilities

    • The primary responsibility of the Payroll Specialist will be to manage all payroll procedures, ensuring accurateness and timeliness. It includes calculating wages, benefits, and deductions, preparing reports, and delivering statements.
    • The Specialist will prepare and process paperwork for new employees, set up payroll profiles, and maintain accurate payroll files.
    • They will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with labor legislation (at both federal and state levels) and informing management of any changes impacting the payroll.
    • The candidate will also need to solve issues and answer payroll-related questions and troubleshoot any errors in the payroll system.

Qualifications

    • The specialist must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
    • A Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation would be a definite advantage.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with payroll software, such as ADP, is required.
    • At least three years of experience in payroll processing and strong knowledge of legislation related to benefits and compensation is necessary.
    • Having strong knowledge of tax procedures and wage laws is also crucial for this role.
    • Lastly, the candidate must have exemplary math skills and the ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally.
