Math Interventionist

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working remotely from a home office, the Math Interventionist supports student mathematics achievement through the delivery of targeted, evidence-based mathematics interventions and instructional support services. This position serves as a key member of the Academic Services team and supports schoolwide mathematics improvement efforts through intervention delivery, progress monitoring, MTSS participation, and collaboration with students, families, teachers, and administrators.

The Math Interventionist provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 mathematics interventions designed to accelerate student growth, close achievement gaps, strengthen mathematical reasoning, and improve mathematics proficiency across grade levels. This role supports schoolwide mathematics initiatives focused on foundational skill development, Grade 7 mathematics proficiency, algebra readiness, problem-solving, and long-term student success.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

Student Intervention & Instruction

• Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 mathematics interventions through individual and small-group virtual instruction;


• Provide evidence-based mathematics instruction focused on conceptual understanding, computational fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving;


• Develop and monitor individualized intervention plans based on student needs and performance data;


• Support algebra readiness and foundational mathematics skill development;


• Differentiate instruction and adjust intervention strategies to maximize student growth;


• Support synchronous and asynchronous intervention opportunities; and


• Maintain intervention documentation and progress monitoring records.

MTSS & Data Analysis

• Analyze multiple sources of student data including IXL, curriculum-based measures, classroom performance data, benchmark assessments, and PSSA results;


• Participate in MTSS meetings, data review discussions, and student support planning;


• Monitor intervention effectiveness and recommend instructional adjustments based on student outcomes;


• Assist with identification of students requiring mathematics intervention services;


• Analyze schoolwide mathematics data and provide recommendations regarding intervention priorities, instructional supports, and achievement improvement strategies;


• Identify mathematics trends, achievement gaps, and areas of instructional need to support schoolwide mathematics improvement efforts; and


• Support schoolwide mathematics improvement initiatives through data analysis and progress monitoring.

Teacher Support & Professional Collaboration

• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, counselors, intervention teams, and administrators to support student achievement;


• Share instructional resources, intervention strategies, and mathematics supports with instructional staff;


• Model effective mathematics intervention practices when appropriate;


• Support implementation of evidence-based mathematics instructional practices across the school;


• Participate in curriculum review, instructional improvement efforts, and mathematics planning initiatives; and


• Collaborate with instructional teams to strengthen mathematics outcomes and intervention effectiveness.

Family Engagement & Communication

• Communicate regularly with students and families regarding intervention goals, progress, and support strategies;


• Provide resources and recommendations to support mathematics development at home; and


• Participate in family conferences, student support meetings, and engagement events as needed.

Assessment, School Support & Professional Responsibilities

• Assist with benchmark assessments, mathematics screening processes, and state testing support activities;


• Support schoolwide mathematics initiatives and achievement goals;


• Participate in professional development, department meetings, and school improvement activities;


• Travel as needed to support state testing, professional development, and school events;


• Stay current on mathematics research, intervention practices, instructional strategies, and Pennsylvania academic standards; and


• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Certification

• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate required;


• Mathematics certification in Elementary Education, Middle Level Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics, or related certification preferred; and


• Pennsylvania residency preferred.

Experience

• Minimum three years of successful teaching experience preferred;


• Experience providing mathematics interventions and instructional support services preferred;


• Experience supporting MTSS systems, progress monitoring, or intervention planning preferred; and


• Experience working within a virtual or cyber learning environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong understanding of mathematics instruction, intervention practices, and student learning progression;


• Ability to analyze student achievement data and develop targeted intervention plans;


• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills;


• Ability to manage intervention caseloads, documentation systems, and progress monitoring responsibilities;


• Technologically proficient with IXL, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office products, and student information systems;


• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment; and


• Ability to travel as needed.
