We are looking for a POS Technical Analyst for an Oil & Gas Major in Houston. The POS Technical Analyst is responsible for providing advanced technical support for all Point-of-Sale (POS), Store systems, and Fuel Desk–related requests across retail locations. This role serves as a key liaison between the POS technical team, retail operations, corporate headquarters, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable system performance, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted store and fueling operations.
The analyst will manage incidents and service requests, deploy system updates, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure the stability and security of POS, fuel, and network systems in alignment with company objectives, operational targets, and security standards.
Key Accountabilities
POS & Fuel Systems Support
Provide day-to-day technical support for POS Store systems and Fuel Desk operations, including:
Fuel pumps and dispensers
POS terminals
Pin pads
Receipt printers and scanners
Backoffice and store computers
NexGen Prime and related systems
Remotely access and support NCR Retalix Store point POS systems using Bomgar, troubleshooting and resolving production issues efficiently.
Incident & Ticket Management
Open, manage, prioritize, and resolve ServiceNow tickets related to POS, fuel, network, and store system issues.
Ensure accurate documentation, timely status updates, and proper escalation when required.
Maintain high standards of customer service while supporting store personnel and operational teams.
System Deployment & Maintenance
Deploy system and application updates using BigFix, including:
Windows updates
CrowdStrike deployments
Security patches
Production fixes
Validate deployments using Technology Assurance (TA) tools, system health checks, and application/log reviews.
Perform ongoing system housekeeping, maintenance routines, and operational checks using logs, monitoring tools, and Microsoft products.
Monitoring, Testing & Troubleshooting
Conduct testing, validation, and analysis using the GPNS Research tool.
Monitor and troubleshoot fuel price changes and communication between:
Headquarters systems
Retalix POS
Sunshine / Highrise signage systems
Identify and resolve file movement, data processing, and network communication issues impacting store and fuel operations.
Security, Compliance & Reporting
Support environments subject to PCI, PII, and data security standards, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Track operational risks, system issues, and unresolved defects daily.
Produce clear, consistent reports summarizing incidents, trends, and risks for management review.
Role will be a 1099 contract role - 8 months through to end of year with possible extension. Around $40-$45 per hour depending on experience.
Must be authorized to work in the USA - no sponsorship available
Minimum 5 years of IT experience supporting POS systems, retail technology, or store systems.
Proven experience providing remote technical support with strong verbal and written communication skills.
2+ years of exposure to PCI, PII, and data security standards within a corporate or retail environment.
Experience supporting POS peripherals, fuel systems, and store infrastructure.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced operational environment.
Technical Skills
POS systems support (preferably NCR Retalix / Store point)
Remote support tools (e.g., Bomgar)
ServiceNow ticketing and ITSM processes
BigFix deployments and patch management
Windows operating systems
Basic networking and connectivity troubleshooting
Log analysis and system health monitoring
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Preferred Skills
Experience with Gilbarco and Wayne fuel dispensers
Experience supporting Verifone M400 Pin Pads and VH devices
Oil & gas retail or multisite retail technology experience
Knowledge of forecourt systems, fuel pricing, and signage integrations
