Job Description - Principal

DB E.C.O. North America (with “E.C.O.” representingEngineering, Consulting and Operations") offers specialized rail and transit consultancy services to public agencies, passenger and freight railroads. DB E.C.O. North America is part of the DB E.C.O. Group and leverages Deutsche Bahn’s global expertise to advance mobility and rail transportation across the U.S. and Canada. Their cross-disciplinary team collaborates closely with clients to innovate their portfolios and elevate business performance. With a focus on sustainability, safety, and operational excellence, they strive to enhance the customer experience, increase rail usage, and “Transform The Future Of Mobility.” 

Tasks & Responsibilities: 



  • Trusted strategic advisor to our top clients, leading high-stakes projects, representing the firm at industry events, securing new business, and driving the strategic direction of our consulting services. 



  • Supervises consulting projects managed by reporting Senior Consultants; ensure quality, cost control, profitability and reviews and approves methodology and approach of projects. 



  • Manages and supports the professional development of your Consulting Team: Managers, Senior Consultants, Consultants and Analysts. 



  • Acts as the Project Manager and a key resource on strategically important and innovative projects. 



  • Transform successful innovative projects into regular services that can be performed by Senior Consultants. 



  • Pursues strategically important new business opportunities. 


Requirements: 



  • MBA, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning and/or Transportation or equivalent related education. 



  • Minimum 10 years experience in consulting for railway projects with focus on rail strategical transportation planning / urban planning / operations planning / route management etc.  



  • Strong leadership and decision-making qualities. 



  • Demonstrate project management experience related to rail transportation planning projects, including the ability to perform under pressure. 



  • Highly developed written and verbal presentation and communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively, experienced in the preparation of high quality (PowerPoint) presentations.    



  • Business-oriented mindset with keen skills of perception and well-structured working approach. 



  • Occasional domestic / international travel may be .     


Working Conditions and Travel:


You may work from your home office and/or a well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.  Occasional overnight travel by land and air. 


Physical Requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation: 



  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time 



  • Ability to speak on the telephone for a total of up to 3 hours per day 



  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings 



  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings


We offer an annual gross salary between $210,000 and $240,000 USD for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
