In this role, you will shape the virtualization stack that powers hybrid cloud solutions for large enterprises. Your responsibilities will include scaling, optimizing, and evolving the platform, directly impacting the direction of virtualization software used across enterprise environments globally. You will lead software development efforts, collaborate with engineering leadership, and mentor junior talent while driving innovation in a rapidly changing tech landscape.
Accountabilities
- Develop and manage virtualization infrastructure software.
- Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot software systems.
- Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to create and deliver competitive roadmaps.
- Address customer issues and provide root cause analysis.
- Stay updated on industry trends to drive innovation.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and recommend solutions.
- Support engineering teams in overcoming operational challenges.
- Mentor junior engineers and represent engineering teams in technical discussions.
Requirements
- Expertise in virtualization or container infrastructure technologies (KVM, libvirt, QEMU, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Strong background in Java, Groovy, and/or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience in developing for compute, storage, or networking products.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel/OS environments.
- Knowledge of storage technologies (Ceph, LVM, NFS, iSCSI).
- Understanding of advanced virtualization topics (live migration, snapshots, memory management).
- Experience with virtual networking (bridges, SR-IOV, VLANs).
- Expertise in security topics (TPMs, SELinux, encryption).
- Proficient with build tools (Maven, Gradle), version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines.
- Willingness to learn and apply cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Strong communication skills for presenting architectures and negotiating options.
- Ability to manage projects and maintain high software quality standards.
- Knowledge of distributed system architecture and clustering design.
- Proven ability to convert product requirements into technical tasks.
- History of innovation with successful software solutions.
