Prior Authorization Coordinator

Mountain Community Health Partnership is seeking a full time Prior Authorization Coordinator to support our pharmacy team and help patients access the medications they need. As a Prior Authorization Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients receive timely access to prescribed medications. The Prior Authorization Coordinator will verify insurance benefits, coordinate financial assistance, and collaborate with providers and pharmacy staff to streamline care and improve outcomes. This position will be a remote position with occasional travel needed. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Submit and follow up on medication prior authorizations.


• Verify prescription benefits and eligibility. 


• Communicate with patients about authorization status and medication access. 


• Resolve issues preventing patients from obtaining medications. 


• Track prescription approvals and escalate denials as needed. 


• Collaborate with the 340B Program Specialist to optimize savings. 


• Support clinic workflow and prevent therapy interruptions. 

Qualifications:

• Education: NC Certified Pharmacy Technician and/or PTCB required. BLS certification preferred.


• Experience: Experience with pharmacy claim rejections and prior authorizations. Familiarity with insurance formularies, step therapy, and pharmacy math. Knowledge of prescription medications and FDA-approved uses.
