JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 Program Coordinator

 

San Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Coordinator in the Tay Housing Program to be based at our Spring Valley and Point Loma offices.  This is a full-time & non-exempt position reporting to the Tay Housing Program Manager.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION HIRING FOR

We provide shelter and transitional housing for children and young adults, without a home, who otherwise would have nowhere to go.

CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

Responsible for providing oversight of the County of San Diego Transitional Youth and Housing Programs and working with TAY age youth (18-24 years old), to achieve self-sufficiency while transitioning into the housing program.  This includes assistance with initial screenings, intakes and exits, program development, oversight of housing agreements, leasing and coordination of care with youth, agency programs, and community partners. 
 

Essential functions include:

  • Assist Program Manager and work collaboratively with housing team to develop and monitor Occupancy Agreements with youth, implement master leases between SDYS and landlords/property management companies at each apartment complex within the program.
  • Maintain housing records and work collaboratively with Resident Advisor Counselors to track progress of youth, inspect rental units and update and track youth contact information and landlord/property manager contact information.
  • Verify youth income and calculate, collect, and track rent and utility payments, manage security deposits, emancipation funds and other fiscal program needs.
  • Conduct unit walk throughs with SDYS Facilities team and forward any forward any maintenance requests to ensure each unit is safe and livable for THP youth and that needs are met in a timely manner to youth in need.
  • Monitor San Diego County Transitional Housing Program-Plus and Transition Youth Housing Contracts and data collection systems, such as Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), and to ensure contract expectations are met for audits.
  • Assist Program Manager in ensuring contract compliance and quality control of service delivery and evaluation.
  • Participate in all required training, consultation/supervisions and annual evaluation of services.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with County of San Diego COR team, TAY Housing staff and other supportive service providers within the community and SDY agency.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or another closely related field required; master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience with housing, Transitional Age Youth and/or foster youth would be highly valued.
  • Must have a good driving record and be willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed). Must be willing and able to drive agency van (15 passenger) in order to move youth in and out of apartments.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students.
  • Must have the ability to hear and speak to exchange information and make presentations.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds-lifting books, materials and equipment to execute lessons and presentations.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Walking extended lengths to move around campuses.
  • Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior.

  • Employment is subject to required clearances which include tuberculosis test, fingerprinting, background checks, and drug testing.

 

Salary Range $25.00 - $27.00/hourly
