Job Description - Project Engineer (Full Time, Hawaii) 6501

Project Engineer (Full-Time, Hawaii)

Do you enjoy keeping projects organized as much as you enjoy construction? Do you have experience supporting commercial construction projects? Are you ready to be the go-to person who keeps documentation, coordination, and takeoffs on track? We are looking for a Project Engineer to collaborate remotely with our client, a commercial construction company based in Hawaii. You should be available to work during U.S. business hours (Hawaii Time, HST) for this full-time opportunity. Apply today!

BetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.

What you'll do:

  • Support Project Managers with day-to-day coordination, tracking RFIs, submittals, change orders, punch lists, and closeout documentation.

  • Perform basic quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications, and assist with bid preparation, scope review, subcontractor bid leveling, and pricing comparisons.

  • Review plans for missing information, scope gaps, and constructability concerns, and help prepare conceptual and budget estimates as directed.

  • Own document control: organize drawings and specifications, track revisions and version updates, and support permit, compliance, and closeout processes.

  • Act as a key point of contact with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams (estimating, operations, accounting, and field), including procurement coordination and material tracking.

  • Keep the team informed and moving by preparing meeting minutes, project reports, status updates, and schedule tracking.

  • Help maintain estimating templates, databases, and cost logs, and support workflow improvements that make the team more efficient.

What you must have:

  • 2+ years of proven experience supporting commercial construction projects.

  • Experience performing basic estimating takeoffs and quantity measurements.

  • The ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings and specifications.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • A highly organized, detail-oriented mindset, with strong time-management skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

A great plus:

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, Autodesk, or similar construction software.

  • Prior experience supporting U.S.-based construction companies, ideally remotely.

  • Exposure to subcontractor coordination and procurement support.

We’ve got the opportunity, you’ve got the talent. We want to hear from you! Apply now.
