Job Description - Psychiatric Medical Director, VIOP Colorado

Title:  Psychiatrist, Medical Director 


Role Type: Contract to W2 


Department/Location: 100% REMOTE position located in Colorado 


Setting: Virtual IOP


 


Schedule: ~4-6 hours/week





    • Includes 2 hours of rounds/supervision

    • Additional time for reviewing and signing notes




*Hours expected to increase over time to 8hrs per week. 


 


Summary: 


The Medical Director shall be a licensed General Psychiatrist or Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist whose primary responsibility is to evaluate mental health disorders and advise, in conjunction with the clinical team, to develop appropriate treatment plans for Guidelight Health clients.


In addition to clinical oversight, this role is deeply rooted in education and professional development. The Medical Director will serve as a clinical leader and educator, meeting weekly with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and the broader clinical team to foster a culture of continuous learning. These sessions will include case discussions, clinical supervision, and the dissemination of evidence-based practices to support high-quality, team-based care.


We are seeking providers who are passionate about mentoring and empowering clinical staff, and who are eager to play an active role in building a cohesive, collaborative care environment. The ideal candidate will be committed not only to clinical excellence but also to developing the next generation of mental health providers through structured, consistent, and meaningful educational engagement.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Provide regular clinical supervision and support to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) through structured weekly meetings focused on case review, clinical decision-making, and professional development.

  • Lead educational sessions and foster a culture of learning within the clinical team by sharing evidence-based practices, facilitating case discussions, and mentoring providers across disciplines.

  • Ensure implementation of all clinic policies and procedures; recommend policy and procedure updates and changes, and shape evidence-based policy decisions to provide clients with the most up-to-date treatment available in addictions care.

  • Ensure timely and complete documentation of treatment records, medication security, and any other documentation required by federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Ensure that Guidelight Health protects the rights and confidentiality of all clients.

  • Document findings and decision-making about care in electronic health record.

  • Maintain timely and appropriate communication and attend meetings as requested.

  • Facilitate appropriate communication and referrals with outside professional as needed.

  • Comply with other ad hoc requests and projects as assigned.

  • Maintain a strong policy knowledge of and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules, laws, and regulations as well as CARF requirements, policies and procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with CFR-related privacy principles and HIPAA policies and procedures.

  • Participate in federal and state mental health training and continuing education as needed to perform in the position safely and effectively.

  • Interact with all staff in a positive and motivational fashion supporting the clinic’s mission and commitment to client experience.


 


Qualifications:



  • Required to have an active license in the State of Colorado 

  • All Medical Providers must have Schedule II-V prescriptive authority from the State of Colorado 

  • A Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registry license and active x-waiver.

  • An active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

  • Experience treating mental health disorder.
