Overview

For generations, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has been dedicated to serving premium, handcrafted treats and creating exceptional experiences for our communities. As our footprint continues to expand across our regional retail scoop shops, wholesale channels, and catering operations, we are looking for a highly organized Retail Operations Manager to join our team in a fully remote capacity.
In this pivotal role, you will drive operational excellence from your home office serving as the central command hub for our multi-location storefronts. You will lead the digital workflows behind our recruitment, labor optimization, and inventory supply chains, ensuring our physical shops have the exact resources, staffing, and operational structure they need to succeed.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Remotely monitor and optimize the daily operations, compliance, and performance metrics of multiple retail locations.
• Oversee the digital labor scheduling architecture across storefronts to balance labor budgets with peak seasonal traffic.
• Manage the end-to-end digital recruitment, hiring, and remote onboarding pipelines for seasonal team members, shift leaders, and shop managers.
• Utilize inventory tracking systems to monitor bulk stock levels, coordinate production demand with our manufacturing hub, and streamline ordering processes.
• Analyze sales data, labor metrics, and customer sentiment reviews to identify trends and implement strategic improvements across all regions.
• Serve as the primary remote point of contact for store managers, streamlining corporate updates, policy changes, and training materials.

Requirements

• 1-3+ years of experience in regional retail management, hospitality operations, or multi-location food and beverage oversight.
• Proven ability to manage complex operations, lead teams, and maintain high accountability while working independently in a remote environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of successfully aligning decentralized, on-the-ground teams.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-volume seasonal recruitment and navigating digital applicant tracking systems (ATS).
• Prior operational management experience specifically within the food service, franchise, or quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry.
• Experience using remote collaboration tools (such as Slack, Zoom, or cloud-based project boards) to manage store-level rollouts and promotional launches.
• Knowledge of customer service best practices.
• Familiarity with sales reporting and performance metrics.
