Overview Stellar Virtual seeks a highly motivated and certified Secondary English Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English Language Arts instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the English language, literature, composition, and communication skills, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Oregon State Standards for English Language Arts for grades 6-12.
Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, discussions, and writing prompts.
Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Implement the Stellar Virtual English Language Arts curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and inform instruction in areas such as reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, mechanics, and composition.
Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the English Language Arts curriculum.
Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
Experience teaching a range of secondary English Language Arts courses (e.g., English 6-12, Literature, Composition, Grammar).
Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
Passion for working with students and fostering their academic growth in language and literacy.
Residency in the state of Oregon is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
A bachelor's degree in English, English Education, Literature, or a related field.
A valid Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary English Language Arts (grades 6-12) or equivalent.
