Overview Stellar Virtual seeks a passionate and certified Secondary History Teacher to join our team. This remote position will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective history instruction to students in grades 6-12 through our virtual learning platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of historical concepts, excellent communication and technology skills, and a passion for fostering a positive and supportive online learning environment. Responsibilities include curriculum implementation, assessment, individualized support, and collaboration to ensure student success.
Essential Duties
Deliver engaging and interactive live virtual lessons aligned with the Oregon State Standards for Social Studies (History focus) for grades 6-12.
Utilize a variety of online teaching methodologies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
Develop and deliver asynchronous learning activities, including interactive assignments, projects, research tasks, and discussions.
Provide clear and timely feedback on student work to promote understanding and historical thinking skills.
Facilitate small group instruction and provide individualized support to students as needed.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Implement the Stellar Virtual history curriculum effectively and adapt instruction to meet individual student needs.
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and historical understanding.
Analyze student data to identify learning gaps and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
Collaborate with curriculum specialists and other teachers to enhance the history curriculum.
Support on-site testing events periodically throughout the year (required).
Participate in virtual professional development and collaborate with colleagues on online teaching best practices.
Work collaboratively with student support services (e.g., counselors, special education) to address student needs.
Attend virtual staff meetings and contribute to the overall success of Stellar Virtual.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Minimum of two (2) years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a secondary setting.
Experience teaching various history courses (e.g., World/US History, Civics/Geography, etc.).
Demonstrated experience in utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual environment.
Passion for working with students and fostering their understanding and appreciation of history.
Residency in the state of Oregon is required.
Education & Certification Requirements
A bachelor's degree in History, History Education, Social Studies Education (with a strong history focus), or a related field.
A valid Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in Secondary Social Studies (grades 6-12) or equivalent, with a demonstrated strength or focus in History.
