About our partner: Join a specialist equipment management solutions provider supporting large manufacturing companies across the UK, Ireland, Europe, and North America. With offices in major international hubs, the company manages large-scale equipment pools used to distribute products to market, primarily within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. Its clients include some of the world’s most recognized brands, such as Coca-Cola, Carlsberg-Britvic, Danone, Nivea, and Kenvue. By overseeing assets like pallets, totes, baskets, and trays across complex supply chains, the company helps global manufacturers improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain reliable product distribution.
About the role: The Senior Director, Business Development is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving growth and expanding market presence within the organization’s industry (e.g., technology, healthcare, finance, etc.). Reporting to executive leadership, this role leads the business development team, identifies new business opportunities, forges strategic partnerships, and oversees the execution of growth initiatives. The Senior Director plays a critical role in shaping the company’s long-term strategy, ensuring revenue targets are met, and maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with organizational goals and market trends.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, alliances, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry partners.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the business development team to achieve performance targets and professional growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, product, finance, legal) to support deal structuring, negotiations, and successful integration of new business.
- Analyze market data, industry trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of compelling business proposals, presentations, and pitches to prospective clients and partners.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities and revenue growth.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and foster new connections.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and closing complex deals in a relevant industry.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in CRM software and business analytics tools.
- Nice to have:
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) or relevant advanced certification.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and post-merger integration.
- Established network of industry contacts and partners.
- International business development experience.
- Familiarity with digital transformation and emerging technologies relevant to the industry.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
