The Opportunity:

The Senior Director, Head of FP&A, Europe will play a critical leadership role in building, scaling, and driving financial planning excellence across the European region as the company establishes its pre-commercial and launch-ready infrastructure. Reporting to the VP, Finance and Operations, Europe, this role will be responsible for designing the European FP&A framework and managing financial views, leading core planning and forecasting processes, enabling high-quality investment decisions, and developing a strong, empowered European finance organization in close partnership with Global Finance and regional leadership

Principal Responsibilities

Build the European FP&A Infrastructure

  • Design and implement a robust European FP&A operating model, aligned with global financial frameworks and adapted to regional and local market needs.

  • Design and own the European management P&L structures, ensuring clear visibility by region, country, function, and product, and enabling effective performance management and decision-making.

  • Lead the establishment and execution of annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and short-range sales forecasting processes for Europe in collaboration with European leadership.

  • Assume shared accountability for the European OpEx budget, including 6+ European legal entities and the regional office, ensuring transparency, consistency, and disciplined financial governance.

  • Partner closely with Global FP&A to implement harmonized planning processes, tools, and methodologies, balancing standardization with regional and local business requirements.

  • Serve as a key European lead on financial systems and planning tool implementations, including extensions of financial planning, reporting, and analytics platforms.

  • Oversee the financial review of Europe-related contracts, ensuring alignment with budget, forecasts, and internal control requirements.

  • Collaborate with Accounting to review monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and financial compliance

Drive FP&A Excellence and Business Partnership

  • Act as a strategic finance partner to European business leaders, enabling informed investment decisions through high-quality financial analysis, insights, and scenario modelling.

  • Analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate financial performance, trends, and risks to a wide range of stakeholders, adapting messaging from executive leadership to functional and affiliate leaders.

  • Provide business owners with regular Actuals vs. Budget / Forecast insights, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions to maximize return on investment.

  • Partner with the European Commercial & Analytics teams to contribute to European-specific market research analysis and insight generation.

  • Establish a strong, proactive partnership with the European Finance & Accounting Sr. Director to anticipate forecast deviations and manage financial risks.

  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency, improve data quality, and continuously enhance FP&A processes as the organization scales.

  • Provide financial leadership and guidance on cross-functional and strategic initiatives, including launch readiness, market entry sequencing, and resource allocation.

  • Participate in European and Global projects as required.

Drive High-Performance and Empowerment Across European Finance Operations

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing European FP&A team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Europe-based General and Country Managers to ensure effective adoption of standardized management P&L structures and financial processes, while minimizing unnecessary localization.

  • Develop and deliver tailored financial and performance management training programs for European stakeholders to strengthen financial acumen and business decision-making.

  • Evaluate the mid- to long-term European business planning organizational structure, providing strategic recommendations to Global Finance Leadership as the company evolves from pre-commercial to launch and growth.

  • Serve as a visible and trusted finance leader within the European organization, promoting collaboration, transparency, and strong cross-functional relationships

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 15+ years of Finance and Finance Planning experience across corporate and operational functions

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the global biopharmaceutical industry, with proven success in scaling finance operations across Europe.

  • Proven ability to build FP&A capabilities and management P&L structures from the ground up in a complex, fast-growing, and highly regulated biotech or life sciences environment.

  • Strong strategic mindset combined with hands-on execution and attention to detail

  • Advanced mastery of data analytics and financial modelling, with strong proficiency in tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Excel-based data models, and financial planning and reporting systems; ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, global organization with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage credibly at executive, regional, and affiliate levels.
