Position Overview: Senior Data Analyst (Integration & Interoperability)
Sigma, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Senior Data Analyst / Clinical Informaticist to support healthcare interoperability and integration initiatives for one of our clients.
This fully remote contract role focuses on gathering technical and functional requirements, analyzing healthcare data workflows, developing source-to-target mappings, and supporting interoperability solutions using FHIR, HL7 messaging standards, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong healthcare data analysis experience, deep knowledge of interoperability standards, and experience translating clinical requirements into scalable technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Healthcare Data Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Gather and analyze technical and functional requirements within a healthcare environment.
- Conduct multi-layer data analysis by linking information from multiple healthcare data sources.
- Analyze healthcare processes and understand interactions between clinical and enterprise systems.
- Support stakeholder discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements elicitation activities.
- Develop project artifacts, documentation, reports, and technical recommendations.
2. Healthcare Interoperability & Data Mapping
- Perform source-to-target mapping of healthcare data elements into enterprise data models.
- Create and maintain:
- Source-to-target mappings
- Data dictionaries
- Process flows
- Integration documentation
- Related implementation materials
- Apply knowledge of:
- FHIR standards
- HL7 v2/v3 messaging protocols
- Clinical data exchanges
- Terminology standards
- Support integration projects involving healthcare data exchange and interoperability solutions.
3. Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with:
- Project Managers
- Product Owners
- Functional Business Analysts
- Clinical Informatics Specialists
- Enterprise Architects
- Quality Assurance teams
- Assist QA teams in developing test scenarios and validation approaches.
- Produce clear, concise documentation for technical and business stakeholders.
- Support change management, training materials, and user resources.
4. Technical Solution Support
- Assist Enterprise Architects with technical solution options, briefing notes, and recommendations.
- Manage requirements scope through established change-control processes.
- Conduct research and environmental scans as required.
- Support communication between technical teams and business/clinical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Experience & Healthcare Background
- 7–10 years of experience as a Senior Data Analyst within the healthcare sector.
- Experience working on healthcare interoperability or large-scale integration projects.
- Strong understanding of healthcare systems, workflows, and clinical data exchanges.
- Experience analyzing interactions between multiple healthcare systems.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of FHIR standards.
- Hands-on experience creating source-to-target mappings using:
- HL7 messaging protocols
- FHIR resources
- Healthcare data models
- Experience with:
- Healthcare data analysis
- Workflow analysis
- Data mapping
- Requirements documentation
- Clinical technology solutions
Communication & Collaboration Skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience.
- Ability to facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and collaboration meetings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to documentation and detail.
- Ability to translate complex clinical and technical requirements into actionable solutions.

- 5+ years of experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, including:

- Medent
- 7–10 years of experience with:
- FHIR
- HL7 v2/v3
- Clinical data exchanges
- Data mapping
- Terminology standards
- Workflow analysis
- Healthcare technology implementation
- Experience creating interoperability deliverables such as:
- FHIR profiles
- Implementation guides
- Integration documentation
Work Environment & Schedule
- 100% remote position.
- Candidates must be available for meetings during Eastern Time business hours.
