We seek an experienced Site Safety Professional to oversee the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and compliance with OSHA and USACE EM 385-1-1 safety standards for a USACE disaster project. This role involves on-site safety supervision, hazard assessments, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and enforce the Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
Conduct daily safety briefings and toolbox talks for all personnel.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, USACE, EM 385-1-1, and other applicable safety regulations.
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Conduct accident investigations, submit reports, and recommend safety improvements.
Oversee the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), hazard controls, and safe work practices.
Ensure all contractors and subcontractors follow workplace safety guidelines.
Maintain detailed safety records and documentation in compliance with contract requirements.
Coordinate with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and Quality Control Manager on safety-related issues.
Ensure compliance with FEMA, EPA, and environmental regulations regarding hazardous material handling.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Provide training to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety into construction management processes.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
Required Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in construction, environmental, or disaster recovery projects.
OSHA Authorized 500 (510 Minimum)
40 Hour 385-1-1
40 Hour Hazwoper
First Aid/CPR Certification
Experience in hazardous material management and environmental health
Strong communication and leadership skills
Worksite in Western, North Carolina. Must be available for on-site work in the counties of Ashe, Watauga and Avery. Must be willing to travel as needed.
Preferred Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field.
CQM-C Certificate is preferred but not required.
