Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Per Diem
Location: Schools within NECSD & Homebound Students
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor / Program Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide school-based and home-based speech therapy services to students with disabilities in grades Pre-K to 12. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and implement intervention strategies to support students in achieving their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct speech-language evaluations for students referred through the Committee on Special Education (CSE)
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on assessment results
- Perform feeding and swallowing assessments if required
- Provide direct and indirect therapy to students during school hours
- Deliver therapy sessions using evidence-based interventions aligned with ASHA principles
- Monitor and document student progress towards IEP goals
- Provide therapy services for homebound students as needed
- Maintain detailed treatment logs, progress notes, and reports using IEPDirect or school-mandated systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and NYS regulations regarding student data privacy
- Participate in IEP meetings to discuss student progress and necessary interventions
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, school administrators, and special education teams
- Educate families and caregivers on at-home strategies to reinforce speech-language skills
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders
- New York State License as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred
- Minimum one year of experience in a school or pediatric setting
- Knowledge of IEP documentation and school-based therapy protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
- Prior experience working in New York school districts
