Job Description - Sr. Marketing Specialist

Senior Marketing Specialist



Primary Function:  Under general supervision, this individual will develop and implement the firm’s marketing strategies, marketing communications and public relations activities. In this role, they will work closely with Principals, Market Leaders and design teams to develop the narrative communicating the firm’s work, and our passion for design.


As a member of a multi-person marketing team, the individual must be able to self-manage, be highly organized, and committed to upholding quality while meeting tight deadlines and juggling a wide variety of projects and tasks. They will need to thrive in a high pressure, deadline-driven environment and take initiative to make independent decisions in the best interest of the firm and the market they support.  



Minimum Qualifications:  




  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related degree

  • At least 8 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry

  • Involvement in professional and community organizations including SMPS is a plus

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong quality control and editing abilities to create compelling, creative, compliant responses to RFQ/RFPs

  • Strong organization and time management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects with varying deadlines with the ability to act with grace under pressure

  • Ability to respectfully collaborate with others, receive feedback, and work toward a shared end goal

  • Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and work independently with strong self-discipline

  • Motivated and proactive strategic thinker with commitment to efficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, in particular, InDesign

  • Basic graphic design skills

  • Proficient in social media and digital platforms



Essential Functions:



Marketing & Business Development



  • Develop annual marketing and business development plans during annual marketing and business development planning process.

  • Develop strategies and tactics to achieve annual market sector goals. Conduct efforts necessary to achieve these goals, and track and report ROI of these efforts.

  • Develop annual marketing and business development budgets during the firm’s annual budgeting process.

  • Identify key industry conferences to attend. Strategize and organize firm participation in industry conferences, project tours and events such as registration, participant preparation, exhibits, booth coordination, tours, sponsorships, presentations, and travel for assigned market, and track and assess investment in conferences for future planning.

  • Research and execute annual architecture and design award submittals, and lead submission efforts.

  • Identify and assess ROI of client appreciation efforts, devise and implement appreciation strategies including purchasing, delivery and shipping coordination of gifts, or by planning appreciation lunches, happy hours or events and update strategies based on ROI analysis.

  • Identify key, marketable projects to photograph and organize photoshoot logistics including collecting photographer price quotes, coordination with external partners, development of shot lists, and on-site logistics before and during shoot.

  • Track and analyze project opportunities and maintain database of project leads.

  • Track and analyze market contacts and maintain current contact information in customer database.

  • Identify and manage the creation of content for distribution as thought leadership, in collateral, and on social media for assigned market.

  • Identify marketing materials to create, including brochures, banners, and swag, and manage the creation of these materials.



RFQ/RFP Response Development:



  • Lead, manage, and develop RFQ/RFP responses from kick-off to debrief.

  • Manage the efforts of the team by scheduling meetings, creating work plans, organizing documents, creating content, and preparing drafts for team review.

  • Proofread, edit, and assure quality and compliance of responses.

  • Lead project interview efforts and provide feedback and coaching to the team.


Market Research & Strategy:



  • Utilize tracking systems to measure RIO of proposal efforts and marketing projects.

  • Conduct client and market research, organize information, and distribute to internal stakeholders to inform strategy.


Data & Asset Management:



  • Identify projects to feature in marketing efforts and develop systems to collect, maintain, and track project drawings, assets, descriptions, data, and photography for projects in assigned market.

  • Identify content to maintain in content library.

  • Collect other relevant marketing material and organize and maintain asset database.
