Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing complex ledger reconciliations, and supporting compliance with GAAP principles. This role sits at the intersection of operational accounting and strategic financial reporting, offering a dynamic environment to manage inventory accounting, supply chain logistics costs, and retail chargebacks. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of corporate accounting, and advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

• General Ledger & Month-End Close: Own the preparation and entry of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals to ensure an accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle.
• Financial Analysis & Variance Reporting: Analyze income statements and balance sheet accounts to identify variances, investigate discrepancies, and present actionable financial insights to the senior finance management team.
• Accounts Receivable & Deductions: Monitor major retail customer accounts, reconcile incoming invoices, and audit trade spend deductions and chargebacks from major big-box retailers.
• Inventory & Cost Accounting: Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to track inventory valuation, calculate landed costs of goods sold, and oversee standard-to-actual cost variance analysis.
• Treasury & Cash Management: Perform daily bank reconciliations, monitor cash flow movements, and track corporate credit card expenses to maintain tight controls over working capital.
• Tax & Audit Support: Assist in compiling critical financial data, schedules, and workpapers for external auditors, corporate tax filings, and local state sales tax compliance.
