Job Description - Supervising Psychotherapist (CA)

Supervising Psychotherapist (CA)

About Limbic

Limbic is the leading clinical AI company for mental healthcare and the largest deployment of patient-facing mental health AI in the world. Our technology has supported over half a million patients across the UK and US, helping health systems deliver higher-quality, more accessible, and more efficient care.

We regulated the first AI diagnostic model for adult mental health as a Class IIa medical device. We’ve published in top-tier journals, won major awards, and advise governments and regulators globally on AI safety, medical devices, and the future of clinical agentic systems.

We now want to focus on providing direct-to-patient best in class AI-led care, and are recruiting to staff our exciting and progressive care clinic.

Brief Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Psychotherapist or Psychologist to ensure clinical excellence within our Limbic Care Clinic. This role spans a multitude of exciting and varied tasks: you will supervise our team of Peer Support Specialists, review and maintain the clinical accuracy and safety of our AI therapy services, and act as the primary bridge for clinical escalations, moving cases from our digital platform to human-led intervention and reporting directly to the Head of Clinical Operations.

This role is presented part-time, but covering a full working week (eg. 2.5 hours per day Mon-Fri). We are also open to job-sharing opportunities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Clinical Oversight: Supervise a team of Peer Support Specialists, providing performance monitoring, mentorship, and weekly supervision.

  • Escalation Management: Act as the frontline clinician for cases flagged by our AI systems or Peer Support team; perform direct outreach and risk assessment as needed.

  • System Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits of AI conversation logs to ensure protocol adherence, clinical nuance, and patient safety.

  • Stakeholder Reporting: Monitor real-time clinical outcomes and escalate significant trends or safety concerns to the Medical Director.

  • Protocol Optimization: Use clinical insights from daily reviews to help refine and improve our automated patient pathways and safety guardrails.

Who we need

  • Clinical Credentials: Full, unrestricted psychotherapist (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC) or Psychologist licensure. 3+ years post-licensure experience preferred but not essential.

  • California State Licensure: You MUST be licensed to practise within the state of CA. Additional licenses (including PSYPACT) is a plus.

  • Supervisory Experience: Proven track record in supervising or training clinicians or peer support staff.

  • Crisis Expertise: Advanced skills in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

  • Technical Aptitude: A strong interest in AI and the ability to evaluate machine-generated text through a clinical lens. You believe in the value AI can have in supporting patients within the US behavioural healthcare system. Previous experience working in AI/Mental Health Tech a plus.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex clinical needs into actionable feedback for both human teams and technical stakeholders.

What we offer

  • Higher than market salary - $28,125 (based on the assumption of 12.5 hours per week) - equivalent to a $90,000 full time salary.

  • PTO in line with hours worked, plus federal holidays

  • 4 ‘Quarterly Life Days’ - one paid day off per quarter to use whenever you choose to relax, recharge, or take care of personal matters

  • Access to free mental health support

  • The opportunity to work alongside experts in their fields in a world-leading company

  • A chance to shape the future of mental health technology and AI safety protocols

  • An inclusive, collaborative, supportive working environment, where you will have direct access to clinical support and supervision at all times (within working hours)

  • Fully remote work with a culture that values autonomy and clinical integrity

Please note that we are expecting a high volume of applications for this role, and therefore may close the job posting at any time. If you are interested, then we suggest you apply asap.
