Job Description - Support Group Administrator


Organization Description 

The Center on Colfax has grown to become the largest LGBTQ+ community center in the Rocky Mountain region. The Center is a collaborative leader that positively impacts the lived experience of LGBTQ+ people in Denver and Colorado by creating inclusive programs and events, fostering connections, and leveraging the individual and collective strengths of the community. In addition, the Center produces Denver PrideFest/Parade/Pride 5K, the largest Pride celebration in the Rocky Mountain Region. 

Position Description

This position will assist the Director of Transgender Services in overseeing peer-led support groups, recruiting and training facilitators, administering surveys, and entering support group related data. The Support Group Administrator may be required to open and close site. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates their schedule with the Director of Transgender Services to ensure support group coverage 
  • Enters data to track program objectives and for reporting
  • Sets up meeting room space 
  • Prepares food, materials and seating
  • Sets up Owl video meeting technology, as needed 
  • Runs in person and online support groups
  • Assists in facilitator recruitment and training 
  • Responsible for opening and closing of building 
  • Administers and collects surveys, and enters data
  • Assists in the development of additional support groups 
  • Assists in the planning and support of special events such as Transgender Day Of Visibility and Transgender Day Of Remembrance
  • Staffs Transgender area at our annual Pride Fest in June

Requirements

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or similar field, preferred
  • 3 years administrative experience 
  • 1 year experience in performing client-directed services (social service, grassroots organizations, community advocacy)
  • Familiarity with transgender experience 
  • Experience facilitating support groups 
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Commitment to the values of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility
  • Awareness and understanding of the issues and needs affecting Denver’s LGBTQ+ community
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Passion for The Center’s mission
  • Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Bilingual in Spanish language, preferred
  • Passing a criminal history background check

Working Conditions

  • Regular schedule will be as follow:
    • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
    • Saturday 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
  • Work in a collaborative, fast paced and continually evolving professional environment
  • Work in hybrid, physical and virtual, environment, as necessary
  • Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds, with reasonable accommodation
  • Frequent giving, receiving, and analyzing of information
  • Frequent use of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and video conference equipment and software
  • Must be available to work The Center’s annual Pride Fest in June
