General Summary

The Cenral Michigan Senior Lender will focus on business development and selling bank services while proactively leading a team of Commercial Lending and Business Development personnel in the Southeast Michigan and Great Lakes Bay Regional Markets. They will have lending authority to make decisions on commercial loan applications. Will develop and manage commercial loan accounts that meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the Bank at minimum risk.

Reports To: SVP Chief Lending Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead teams of Business Development and Commercial Lending personnel, proactively managing to reach sales goals. Motivate your team to provide superior customer service and to resolve customer issues.
  • Manage a portfolio of high value business customers. Monitor assigned loan portfolio by maintaining accurate loan grades and risk assessments.  
  • Maintain an active role in the community and develop key business and community relationships. Proactively drive sales through community outreach, outside calling, and referrals from customers and other partners.
  • Leverage the Bank’s tools and technology to drive sales and service.
  • Educate your team on all products, services, technology and policies.
  • Interview loan applicants. Collect and analyze financial and related data to determine general creditworthiness of the borrower and merits of the specific loan request to evaluate for the purpose of making commercial loans and/or continuation/renewal of existing loans.
  • Prepare and/or present loan presentations for committee review and approval authority
  • Provide support and partnership for retail team in the Southeast Michigan and Great Lakes Bay regional markets.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Be familiar with and comply with the provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act as they relate to the functions of this position. Complete all required reports related to those acts and reports any observed violations or potential violations of those acts to a supervisor or other appropriate bank officer.
  • Be familiar with and comply with all federal and state banking regulations as applicable.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; handing complaints and resolving problems.

Regulatory Compliance: Ability to read, interpret, and apply bank policies and procedures and to complete initial and ongoing training successfully for this job’s essential duties and requirements in order to maintain compliance with federal and state banking and bank-related regulations, including but not limited to Bank Security, Bank Secrecy, OFAC, Information Security, etc.

Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an Individual in this position must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily and exhibit the values of the Company. In addition, the requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Experience and/or Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Minimum of ten(10) years Commercial Lending experience
  • Knowledge of all commercial lending functions and regulatory requirements; has a thorough understanding of underwriting, coverages, and rating procedures
  • Management experience preferred

Licenses & Designations

  • NMLS Registration

Ability to work in an office environment which may include many hours of computer and telephone usage. This position is remote-eligible on a hybrid basis.
