Job Description - Task Lead 1c Corrective Action Planning and Verification

Salary Range: $120,000 - $145,000

Location: TSA Headquarters, located at: 6595 Springfield Center Drive, Springfield, VA            (Primary performance location will be remote or at contractor site)

Job Summary:
The Task Lead for Corrective Action Planning and Verification is responsible for managing the development, implementation, and validation of corrective action plans to address deficiencies in TSA’s internal controls over financial reporting (ICOFR) and IT processes. This role ensures compliance with federal regulations, including FMFIA, FFMIA, and DHS FAA, by collaborating with TSA’s Internal Control and Audit Policy Branch (ICAP) and process owners to identify root causes, track progress, and validate remediation efforts. ​The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in internal controls, audit remediation, and corrective action planning, with proven leadership experience in managing complex projects. ​ This position requires excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills to ensure the successful resolution of control deficiencies and support TSA’s financial integrity
Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. Corrective Action Plan Development: ​
    • Collaborate with process owners to identify deficiencies, determine root causes, and develop actionable corrective action plans (IMAPs/POAMs). ​
    • Ensure corrective action plans align with DHS Mission Action Plan (MAP) Guide requirements, including key strategies, milestones, and performance measures. ​
  2. Remediation Support: ​
    • Facilitate effective remediation of control gaps by providing recommendations and guidance to process owners. ​
    • Track the progress of corrective actions and ensure timely updates to IMAPs/POAMs. ​
  3. Validation and Verification: ​
    • Validate completed corrective actions by obtaining and reviewing supporting documentation. ​
    • Ensure remediation efforts effectively address identified deficiencies and comply with federal financial management standards. ​
  4. Reporting and Documentation: ​
    • Compile findings into the Summary of Aggregated Deficiencies (SAD) for submission to DHS. ​
    • Provide monthly updates on the status of IMAPs/POAMs and report progress to ICAP leadership. ​
  5. Collaboration and Communication: ​
    • Meet regularly with process owners to discuss corrective action progress and address any impediments.
    • Coordinate with ICAP to ensure all corrective actions are properly documented and reported
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal controls, audit remediation, or corrective action planning. ​
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lead capacity for similar tasks.
  • Experience supporting TSA and ICAP are highly desired.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving capabilities. ​
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for guiding staff and reporting to leadership. ​
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills to resolve complex control deficiencies
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) is desired
