Job Description - Tax Senior Associate

About Belltower Fund Group:

Belltower is empowering world-changing fund investments.

Belltower was formed in 2019 as AngelList’s native fund administrator and completed its journey to become an independent company at the end of 2023. Belltower provides fund administration services to the venture space. Our coverage spans syndicates, venture funds, and first-of-their-kind rolling funds. Our full-service fund management offering streamlines the complexity of running a fund by integrating financial reporting, tax, compliance, portfolio management, and other services that managers typically have to cobble together from multiple vendors. Our services, combined with AngelList’s software, enable us to launch and scale a fund efficiently, allowing fund managers to focus on what they do best: investing.

Since 2019, Belltower has supported 27k+ funds representing over $25B in assets under administration, leveraging AngelList’s fund admin software to power the service layer for funds launched on the AngelList platform.

About the Role

We are seeking a Tax Senior Associate to join our growing tax team. This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in public accounting or fund administration who is ready to take on ownership of U.S. tax compliance and operational workflows within a high-scale investment fund environment.

The Tax Senior Associate is part of a specialized team responsible for driving federal and state income tax compliance for 27k+ funds managed on Belltower, using AngelList's technology platform. This includes reviewing and validating automated outputs, preparing and reviewing manual work, and identifying and resolving exceptions — with a focus on real-time review of transactions for tax implications and downstream reporting impacts.

You will work closely with tax, engineering, and cross-functional operations teams. This is not a typical tax role — you will operate at the intersection of tax, fund accounting, and product, helping tax workflows scale across thousands of funds. You will grow to take greater ownership of complex tax analyses and cross-functional processes over time. This role is well-suited for someone who is highly organized, proactive, and able to operate with increasing independence in a fast-paced environment.

You will:

  • Identify whether a fund has a filing requirement and support the preparation and filing of U.S. federal and state tax returns, including extensions

  • Perform taxable income analyses and support annual partnership and corporate tax compliance

  • Prepare amended returns (AARs) and support reissuance processes

  • Analyze transactions with tax reporting implications, including installment sales, QSBS, tax-free exchanges, SAFEs, and convertible notes

  • Perform tax-related operational work tied to fund accounting, including recording and reconciling transactions from a tax perspective

  • Take ownership of assigned workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and clear communication of status and risks

  • Work cross-functionally with fund accounting, finance, legal, engineering, and operations teams to gather information and resolve issues needed for tax compliance and reporting

  • Conduct evaluation and testing of proprietary systems to support accuracy and scalability

  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimize workflows

  • Contribute to documentation as the tax function scales

You have:

  • 2–4 years of experience in accounting, tax, fund administration, or a related role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax concepts

  • Interest in partnership taxation and investment fund structures

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with guidance and support

  • Ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately, with proposed solutions

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Comfortable learning and working within new systems and tools

  • CPA eligibility or progress toward certification (a plus, not required)

If you don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.

Belltower Funds is a remote-first company. This position is fully remote for anyone in the United States or Canada.

Benefits: We support our employees in their lives both inside and outside of work.
