Job Description - Technician, Engineering II - Department of Navy

Overview:

Location: The Contractor shall perform work under this effort in a hybrid environment, with a combination of on-site work at NSWCPD facilities in Philadelphia, PA and remote support.

Job Type: Full-Time

Annual Salary Range: $40 to $60 per hour

Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

INTECON, LLC is seeking a hands-on Technician, Engineering II to support the installation, maintenance, and modernization of U.S. Navy Submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems. This role provides direct shipboard and waterfront engineering support to NSWCPD Code 24, enabling safe, efficient, and mission-ready integration of submarine system upgrades and alterations.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The roles shall include:

  • Perform on-site support during ship alterations, overhauls, and repair evolutions related to submarine HM&E systems.
  • Assist with the installation and functional testing of mechanical and electrical components onboard U.S. Navy submarines.
  • Support planning and estimation of work packages, including shipboard systems scheduling and execution timelines.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, document condition assessments, and assist with recording technical discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with engineers, logisticians, and program leads to support technical execution of field work in accordance with Navy maintenance and modernization protocols.
  • Prepare status updates, progress reports, and support documentation required for NSWCPD deliverables.
  • Adhere to Navy safety, security, and configuration management standards during all shipboard and facility-based work activities.

Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate of high school, trade school, or industrial school.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience working with U.S. Navy Submarine systems and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the installation, repair, overhaul, testing, and alteration of submarine mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience planning and scheduling shipboard work activities, including material tracking and coordination with shipyards or field activities.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy modernization processes, equipment drawings, and shipboard documentation protocols.

Preferred Certifications and Training:

  • NAVSEA Ship Alteration Installation Team (AIT) Familiarization
  • OSHA 10/30 Maritime Safety Training
  • Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Awareness (preferred)
  • Basic Shipboard Firefighting and Damage Control Training (preferred)

Proficiency in:

  • Use of shipboard test equipment and tools
  • Interpreting technical drawings, system schematics, and alteration records
  • Navy documentation systems (e.g., DFS, LARs, CASREP support)
  • Microsoft Word and Excel for basic reporting and documentation

Security Clearance:

Must possess and maintain a SECRET clearance.
