Position Overview: About the Total Life Fellowship

The decline of mental health in the United States is undeniable: Nearly 1 in 4 seniors suffer from poor mental health, unaware that there are therapy options available to them. The Total Life Fellowship seeks to raise awareness of our therapy and wellness programs through community-based outreach, empathy, and education – no one should suffer alone.

The Total Life Fellowship is a 12-week student-led outreach initiative with a mission to promote emotional wellness among older adults. Students will receive robust training about community outreach, marketing strategies, business development, and mental health. In exchange, we ask our fellows to use their new knowledge in local senior centers: Fellows will engage with staff and residents, present company marketing materials, and document their outreach efforts.

Our Fellows act as liaisons between senior centers and available mental health resources, helping older adults feel seen, supported, and connected to the care they deserve. They are the face of Total Life within their local communities, raising awareness about Total Life’s services.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with residence coordinators, social workers, and staff at senior centers to establish partnerships
• Visit senior centers to distribute flyers and connect with residents
• Deliver brief, respectful presentations or table at events as permitted, to educate community members about online therapy and Total Life’s mission
• Maintain records of outreach activity and submit updates to the Total Life team
• Serve as a local representative of Total Life with professionalism and care

• Current college or university student (open to all majors and years)
• Passion for mental health, aging, or community service
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-directed, organized, and dependable
• Comfortable initiating conversations with new people
• Previous outreach, leadership, or volunteer experience is an asset but not required

• All fellows can earn verified volunteer/service hours
• Eligible for letters of recommendation and certification (where applicable)
• Receive extensive training about marketing strategies, business development, and mental health
• Gain hands-on experience in community outreach, health advocacy, and communications
• Real-world exposure to mental health equity and social impact work
