Title IX Investigator

Role Mission: 

The Title IX Investigator will work as part of the Title IX team managing and conducting thorough investigations across four states regarding allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination including, but not limited to, sexual comments, sexual assault, domestic violence, and inappropriate relationships as defined under IDEA policy and state laws. Additionally, this role may work as part of a team to develop and deliver trainings resulting in the prompt, impartial, and thorough investigation of allegations.

Location: This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.  

 

 What You’ll Do - Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and maintain a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the federal Title IX regulations
  • Monitor developments in law, policy, and practice related to Title IX and sexual misconduct
  • Investigate employee and student allegations of sexual misconduct in a trauma informed, reliable, timely, confidential, and impartial manner
  • Contact all involved parties, including parents, in a timely manner
  • Monitor developments in law, policy, and practice related to Title IX and sexual misconduct for students and employees.
  • Communicated with campus personnel to ensure the investigation regarding support needed for investigations
  • Facilitate with implementing supportive measures for all parties involved
  • Ensure documentation of all cases are up to date on a regular basis
  • Maintain and uphold the Title IX grievance protocols and procedures for students, parents, and employees
  • Monitor investigative timeline to comply with the federal regulations

 

 

What You Bring -- Competencies:

 

 

Required experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university 
  • Minimum 3 years of investigative experience, preferably in Title IX or K-12 setting. Experience working with student or employee investigations strongly preferred. 
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred 
  • Experience investigating, adjudicating and resolving allegations of discrimination, harassment sexual misconduct/sexual violence or in administering and coordinating a comprehensive program addressing Title IX compliance
  • Prior Title IX training and certifications strongly desired

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in social work, psychology, public policy, human resources, legal studies, or a closely related field or a Juris Doctorate preferred.
  • Spanish speaker preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Title IX
  • Ability to investigate and analyze claims information and to draw reasoned, supported conclusions.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Skill in coordinating the work of a wide array of individuals, many of whom are not direct reports.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.  
  • Ability to manage through layers, including managing through influence
  • Detail orientation, without getting lost in the weeds
  • Strong written and oral communication

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $63,400 and $73,300, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
