Underwriter - UK KYC/KYB

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriter with proven expertise in UK Know Your Customer (KYC) and Know Your Business (KYB) practices to join our expanding Risk & Compliance team. This role is critical to safeguarding Worth AI’s mission of enabling fair and accurate credit decisioning while maintaining full adherence to UK regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will evaluate client and business applications, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, and play a key role in strengthening our compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and underwrite customer (KYC) and business (KYB) applications in accordance with UK regulatory standards and Worth AI’s internal policies.
• Conduct in-depth risk assessments, including financial analysis, creditworthiness reviews, and fraud detection.
• Verify company structures, ownership hierarchies, and beneficial ownership for UK and international clients.
• Apply FCA, PRA, AML, and other relevant UK regulations in the underwriting process.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and risk teams to escalate and resolve complex cases.
• Make sound underwriting decisions that align with Worth AI’s mission of balancing growth with responsible risk management.
• Maintain accurate and auditable records of all underwriting decisions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of Worth AI’s underwriting policies, processes, and AI-driven compliance tools.
  

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5+ years of underwriting, risk, or compliance experience within UK financial services, banking, or fintech.
• Strong knowledge of UK AML, KYC, and KYB frameworks, including FCA requirements.
• Experience in credit risk assessment, fraud detection, and financial statement analysis.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with compliance and underwriting platforms; experience with AI/fintech tools is a plus.
• Professional certifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, CII) preferred.
