WeMove Europe is seeking a passionate and motivated volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors, with a range of skills or experience to complement our current Board.
Who we are WeMove Europe is a members based, digital first campaigning organisation that believes people have the power to make change happen, and that politics in Europe are in drastic need of a rethink so that they put people and planet first.
Our job is to move a community of almost a million people across Europe on issues that matter - including the climate emergency, migrant rights, workers rights, better governance, and more. We know this number of people also needs to grow and diversify further so we can represent a strong critical mass that can bring about change in Europe.Board members are central to the success of our mission. A Board is only as strong as its collective members and we are looking to be diverse in age, experience, skills, gender, ethnicity, and perspectives. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in the following areas:
A good match for our mission and vision - you want to change Europe and believe in doing that via people power and helping people make change happen
One or a combination of these areas of expertise:
You are a changemaker in your community and / or a part of a community of activists
Expertise in Communication & Media (especially for Campaigns)
One or a combination of these areas are an added bonus:
Fundraising/ individual giving
Digital Campaigning
Organising
Political Campaigning
Previous experience within a Board of Directors
Good communication skills
Ability to communicate and work in English
You are based in Europe and willing to travel within Europe 1-2 times a year
Key Responsibilities
As Treasurer you will be responsible for reviewing the quarterly and annual financial records of the organisation and reporting to the other Board-members and providing advice and support in the financial oversight of the organisation.
Other responsibilities include:
Governance: The Board is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s overall strategy and performance.
The Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the organisation.
It is responsible for ensuring the financial sustainability and solvency, as well as compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
It is responsible for legal, financial, and reputational risks oversight.
At times, the Board will work in smaller committees or working groups for specific purposes when needed.
Time Commitment
Start date: Autumn 2025
Term duration: one term lasts 3 years and Board members can serve a maximum of two terms.
Meetings: At a minimum, the Board meets quarterly with some additional conference calls in between. Board members are encouraged to be active participants striving to attend all meetings and at least one in person meeting per year.
