Salary Range: $125,000 to $300,000 DOE, plus bonuses for exceeding billables and generating new files

About the Role:
A collaborative, remote-first law firm specializing in workers’ compensation defense is seeking 5 skilled attorneys to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will handle cases from inception through appeal, with full autonomy and support from experienced partners. The firm welcomes both experienced workers’ comp attorneys and civil litigators looking to pivot. Their comprehensive training program ensures smooth onboarding for those new to the practice area. Compensation is heavily bonus-driven, rewarding attorneys who exceed the 220 billable hours/month target and contribute to business development.
Core Responsibilities
Handle workers’ compensation defense cases from initial intake through appeal (including WCAB filings, discovery, depositions, and hearings)
Conduct early and ongoing case evaluation and valuation to advise clients on settlement vs. litigation strategy
Collaborate with partners and associates on complex case strategy and motion practice
Maintain strong relationships with claims adjusters, employers, and insurance carriers
Meet or exceed monthly billable target of 220 hours, with bonus incentives for overperformance and new file generation
Dealbreaker Requirements
Active California Bar membership in good standing
Core Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
1 to 30 years of legal experience — preferably in civil litigation, insurance defense, or workers’ compensation
Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation Abode (WCAB) procedures and Labor Code
Proven ability to manage a caseload independently and meet billable expectations (220+ hours/month)
Strong written and verbal communication skills; personable demeanor for client/adjuster interaction
Comfortable working remotely with a distributed team across CA and NV
Ideal Candidate Profile
For transition attorneys: 1–2 years of civil litigation experience (e.g., personal injury, insurance defense), seeking to pivot into workers’ comp — training program available
For experienced practitioners: Prior workers’ comp defense background, with experience managing full caseloads from inception through appeal; conservative billing philosophy and strong independent judgment
