Rental Equipment Technician

The Rental Equipment Technician is responsible for the loading and unloading of equipment in the yard, as well as the check in and check out of rental equipment.  You must be able to communicate both written and verbally about things like customer damage, problems with yard layout and maintenance and safety concerns as examples.  Demonstration to customers the safe operation of the various pieces of equipment, is a must, as customer service is your first priority. This person must be willing to adjust his break time to work around or customer needs. When not working with customers, you will be responsible for the yard and facility.  You will also be required to perform minor repairs and normal maintenance on the rental equipment fleet. Any repairs requiring more skill or extended time will be performed in the service department.

The optimal candidate should be willing to work in the elements consisting of all types of weather, be able to accomplish multiple tasks in order of importance, organize the wholegoods/rental area that can be managed for the day-to-day operations of the dealership, capable of running of heavy equipment, and not afraid of a challenge.

Pay Range: $26.75-$27.70/Hourly  (Per Union Wage Schedule) *Pay Range is commensurate with class experience and negotiable*

Responsibilities 

• Determine safety requirements and communicate safety concerns and needs to management.


• Use judgment when repairing equipment so that repairs that require more skill are referred to the service department.


• Foresee and identify requirements of upkeep of the yard and facility, such as salting all icy areas, etc.


• Communicate quickly and effectively with customers and other employees, including management.

• Equipment Experience Preferred but not necessary 


• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs for short periods of time.


• Physically bend, stretch, climb, reach, kneel and squat.


• Withstand temperatures, which may vary from below freezing and windy to hot and humid, and everything in between.


• Balance and use caution when walking in icy and snowy conditions, and when mounting and dismounting equipment.


• Exert pressure needed to fasten, unfasten, load and unload heavy construction equipment and pieces of equipment.
