Repair Technician
NATURE OF WORK:
The Repair Technician performs maintenance, safety, and management tasks that promote a clean, operable, and safe working environment for District employees and guests.
SUPERVISION:
Works closely with the Facilities Manager and/or the Director of Facilities according to event schedules, maintenance, and event requirements. May supervise full and part-time employees, as needed. Reports to the Facilities Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
· Diagnosing and repairing all major systems on equipment, with emphasis on hydraulics, electrical and diesel. Repairing any parts and components.
· Generate or receive work orders, estimate the hours needed to complete tasks, organize and assign work to be completed based on established routines and deadlines.
· Maintains and services all District rolling stock for optimal performance and longevity, i.e., fork trucks, gators, utv's, pickup trucks
· Records damaged, received, and working inventory.
· Reports repairs for ROI’s and measurements.
· Updates inventory and parts usage.
· Performing equipment rebuilds and overhauls.
· Maintains proper documentation required by Manager i.e. department repair logs, PM logs, inventory logs.
· Performs occasional welding tasks as part of maintenance, repair, or fabrication work.
· Suggest and implement changes in work practices for better efficiency and quality.
· Respond to questions, resolve problems, and provide technical and other assistance to staff completing assigned work.
· Consistently use machine procedures to proactively identify and prevent future equipment.
· Train employees on all new equipment that is added to the property for proper utilization of equipment.
· Responsible for all parts ordering and when outsourcing repairs, coordinating dates of service offsite.
· Communicating clearly with management and internal customers onsite to clarify instructions and discuss scope of repairs.
· Maintaining equipment in clean, organized, safe and well operating condition.
· Performing any additional tasks assigned.
· Follow policies and procedures as they relate to technical operations. Provide input on how policies and procedures may be streamlined to enhance performance or improve safety and security of equipment.
· Maintains cleanliness and organization of parts and tools in workshop.
· May supervise minor public works contracts, including inspections and management of contract projects.
· Adhere to safety rules, regulations, and precautions.
· Conducting routine inspections and emergency repairs both self-performed and with outside vendors.
· Maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities, such as delegating or completing maintenance orders Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for supervisors and other District staff.
· Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.
· Collaborating with supervisor on budgeting for facility’s needs.
· Work is medium to heavy in nature and requires concentrated attention to prevent errors and is performed under normal working conditions.
· Will be required to work extended hours, when necessary, which may include extended hours in a day, anytime day/night, weekends, and holidays.
· May be required to work odd and unusual hours.
· Promotes both internal and external guest services, including fellow employees, contract service providers, event personnel and event attendees.
· Ensure control/protection of company assets.
· Requires being outside in different weather conditions most of the shift.
· Performs other work as assigned.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or its equivalent; plus, three years responsible experience working in an Operations, Engineering, or Facilities Department of a public assembly facility preferred.
· Knowledge of building trades, contracting, and purchasing procedures, and industry-established repair methods and techniques.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization, outside business contacts, and with the public.
· Ability to estimate work hours and material needed for minor repairs.
· Communicate technical information both orally and in writing with both technical/trades and non-technical personnel.
· Working knowledge and understanding of MSD, OSHA requirements, and biohazard clean up and disposal.
· Estimate and plan needed repairs or maintenance and follow established means of work.
· Considerable knowledge of and is able to assist in the planning process.
· Must have a valid Driver’s License.
SALARY AND STATUS
Hourly $25.21 - $35.29 Non-exempt
