Reproductive Empowerment Project Coordinator (REP)

Maine Family Planning is seeking a part-time (22.50 hours a week) Reproductive Empowerment Project Coordinator (REP) to join our team. This position requires travel between Waterville and Lewiston outreach locations with occasional travel to Bangor.

The Reproductive Empowerment Project (REP) Coordinator will help improve access to reproductive health education and services for people who use substances and other individuals who may face barriers to care. This position will build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations across Maine, including harm reduction programs, domestic violence shelters, treatment programs, and correctional/pre-release programs.

The REP Coordinator will provide education and outreach, facilitate presentations, and help connect participants with Maine Family Planning clinicians through telehealth and other services. A key part of this position will also be working closely with the Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), engaging participants, helping connect them to appropriate services, and supporting the team in keeping the mobile clinic running smoothly and efficiently.

Qualifications Needed for Position:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

• Knowledge and understanding of some combination of the following: reproductive health care services, substance use disorders/harm reduction practices, and domestic violence. Training on reproductive health care services can be arranged for the right candidate. CNA, Medical Assistant or LPN experience a plus.


• Proven ability to build trusting relationships with populations who experience social stigma, including but not limited to people who: use drugs (including pregnant women); have been/currently are incarcerated; have experienced sexual exploitation, trafficking, and/or domestic and sexual violence; and/or have experienced homelessness.


• Passion for and willingness to uphold the tenets of MFP’s mission, including respect for all patients’ bodily autonomy, individual right to privacy, and the right to make decisions about pregnancy that include accessing abortion.


• Willingness to learn and regularly utilize internal computing and technical systems for hosting telehealth appointments, client tracking and data recording. Training will be provided.


• Demonstrated experience working on cooperative projects with community partners and healthcare providers.


• Excellent communication and group facilitation and process skills


• Strong problem-solving and time management skills


• Strong data collection skills


• Proven ability to be flexible and creative, and to exercise good judgment when navigating complex situations.


• Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Education and Knowledge Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

• Associate degree preferred and /or a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in either reproductive health or services related to substance use disorders.


• Certified Medical Assistant required.

Other Requirements Needed for Position:

• A valid driver’s license.

Salary- $22.65 hr.- TBD
