Provide support in merchandizing, operational, warehouse and cashier functions of Cat’s Meow Thrift Store.
Ensure standards for quality, customer service, and health and safety are met.
Protect the privacy of customers and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate cash register and credit card machine.
Balance cash register.
Make bank deposits.
Assist in setting up and taking down special promotions, displays and events.
Ensure the organization and cleanliness of stock on the sales floor.
Assist in making sure stock is properly rotated and that aged stock is taken off floor for disposal.
Tour sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of work area.
Respond to customer complaints.
Price donated materials, as assigned.
Provide assistance in supporting volunteers and trainees.
Lift boxes and bags of items/clothing onto sorting table.
Check quality of merchandise and sort.
Empty sorted containers into baler or hanging table.
Empty trash barrels.
Break down boxes.
Sweeping and cleaning area.
Operate baler.
Stock donated material on sales floor.
Participate in personal and professional development activities, including staff meetings, conferences, training opportunities, as identified and approved by supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to handle and/or reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Additional Requirements:
Complete additional certification as required.
Understand the importance of daily work attendance, and its impact on coworkers, clients, and the agency.
Possess the ability to navigate and effectively resolve conflict.
Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
Must be self-directed and able to prioritize in a fast paced environment.
Must be willing to accept new challenges.
Must have proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet).
Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance, and pass Mid Michigan CAA’s driving record review.
Successfully complete Criminal History and Child Abuse/Neglect clearance procedures at time of hire and when requested.
Must comply with Agency tobacco free and drug free policies.
