POSITION SUMMARY:


The position of Clinical Research Assistant assists research department with the conduct of new and active research studies, including but not limited to data management, patient scheduling, filing, obtaining research team member signatures, patient screening, and follow-up, transporting study materials (including biological specimens), obtaining patient informed consent, and creating and maintaining study documentation.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Medical Assistant or one-year college training


An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed below, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.


JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:



  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clinicians, patients, administrators, auxiliary personnel, regulators, monitors, and sponsors, both in the clinic and hospital setting.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Familiarity with the computer system.

  • Excellent organizational skills to independently manage workflow.

  • Ability to prioritize quickly and appropriately.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Meticulous attention to detail.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Responsible for assisting with data entry and database corrections for various research projects.

  • Assists in screening patients for enrollment into active research studies, including obtaining patient consent when needed.

  • Conducts patient follow-up phone visits, files documents, lab processing, materials transport, creating and maintaining study documentation, and obtaining research team member signatures.

  • Remains in communication with clinical research project coordinators, Principal Investigators, and other research staff.

  • Assists with collecting, cleaning, and organizing files as necessary and assure comprehensiveness of individual patient data records.

  • Completes research data case report forms and answers queries.

  • This position requires regular interaction with a variety of internal and external contacts including investigators and staff, study sponsors, and/or their representatives.

  • 8-hour shift

  • Monday to Friday


Experience:



  • Health & Medical Researchers: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Clinical trials: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Research: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Phlebotomist Certification Required
