Research Associate I , Pedi Vaccinology Research (Onsite)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent; no experience required.

Job Description:

Performs varying standardized laboratory assignments and experiments. The Research Associate I position will provide essential technical and research support for ongoing and expanding research activities. The position will support grant-funded studies with both bench and clinical samples through laboratory testing, biological assays, data collection and management, and maintenance of accurate research records. This role will support the research team to ensure experiments are conducted efficiently and in accordance with established protocols, while supporting the timely completion of grant milestones and deliverables, and will also allow faculty and senior research personnel to focus on study design, data interpretation, grant activities, and other higher-level research responsibilities. The selected candidate will also provide support to the lab's current and anticipated research portfolio. 

Job Duties:

• Performs laboratory research and experiments following established protocols and experimental designs. 
   
• Processes human and animal biological samples (blood, tissue, fecal, urine, saliva) and performs basic quantitative and qualitative analyses. 
   
• Prepares biological assays and analyzes biological materials using standard laboratory techniques and instrumentation. 
   
• Maintains accurate laboratory notebooks, experimental records, and research data. 
   
• Compiles, organizes, and performs preliminary analysis of data to support statistical analyses and scientific manuscripts. 
   
• Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment; maintains reagents and common laboratory supplies. 
   
• Applies basic laboratory safety practices.
   
• Participates in laboratory meetings, training, continuing education, and other departmental activities. 
   
• Adheres to internal controls established for department. 
   
• Performs other duties as assigned.
   

Preferred Qualifications\: 

• Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, organic chemistry or general chemistry. 

• Basic PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, report writing and e-mail skills, and must exhibit proficient organizational and time management skills.
