Research Associate & Investment Promotion Specialist Germany Trade & Invest

Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. We strengthen the German economy by informing German companies about export markets, by attracting and advising foreign companies to enter the German market, and by marketing Germany as an attractive business location in Germany as well as abroad.

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to support our trade and investment activities. As a key member of our organization, you will work closely with our two directors from Germany Trade & Invest, which are located at the office of the Representative of German Business (GACC West) in San Francisco. One director for Trade compiles comprehensive market research to support German companies setting up in the US market. The second director for investment attraction promotes Germany as a business location and assists US companies setting up in Germany.

Your responsibilities:

Market Research

Conduct economic and industry analyses about various sectors of the US economy such as automotive, chemical, healthcare and ICT.
Prepare statistical data for detailed market reports.
Prepare presentations and reports about the US economy in German language.
Create and coordinate digital graphic elements for market reports such as datawrapper or interactive maps.
Organize research and fact finding trips for the director.

Investment attraction

Identify companies with an interest to establish a business presence in Germany.
Compile lists of target companies and gather high-quality information on companies and industrial sectors to support investment promotion efforts.
Attend trade fairs, conferences and various industry events to reach out to companies with a potential investment interest in Germany.
Assist in organising and preparing events tailored to potential investors, ensuring smooth execution and effective engagement.
Compile marketing materials such as power point presentations to promote Germany as a business location.

General tasks

Manage and provide administrative assistance for both directors such as compiling of expense reports.
Establish and nurture relationships with various stakeholders such as government agencies, industry associations, and organizations.

Your qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in economics or related fields, with a solid understanding of economic contexts.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English & German are essential.
Good knowledge of the US economy and corporate landscape.
Technical proficiency in information analysis, research, and data evaluation.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
Sound understanding of macroeconomic concepts.
International mindset with relevant experience.
High affinity for the German economy and Germany as a business location.
Proven ability to work on projects and deliver results under pressure.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficiency in common MS Office programs, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage with customers.

Salary range:

$75,000 to $ 85,000 annually.
