Research - Senior Associate Scientist I

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Process Development Associate to support laboratory-scale synthesis and downstream processing of oligonucleotide-based drug substances. This hands-on role involves chemical synthesis, purification, and analytical testing, contributing to process optimization and technical support for contract manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform chemical synthesis of oligonucleotides at scales up to 11 mmol.
• Execute downstream processing steps including preparative HPLC, ultrafiltration, annealing, concentration, and lyophilization.
• Conduct in-process analytical testing using techniques such as AX-HPLC, IPRP-HPLC, LC-MS, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
• Provide technical input for the optimization of contract manufacturing processes.
• Support method development and troubleshooting for oligonucleotide purification and analysis.
• Maintain accurate and thorough laboratory records in accordance with good documentation practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and contribute to routine lab and equipment maintenance.
• Uphold high standards of scientific integrity and laboratory cleanliness.
• Work effectively within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Communicate findings and progress clearly to team members and stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in an industrial or GMP setting.
• Basic understanding of analytical techniques including pH, osmolality, conductivity, HPLC, and LC-MS.
• Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide synthesis and downstream processing is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with phosphoramidite chemistry, chromatography, and ultrafiltration is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigor.
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe and orderly lab environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive, responsible, and adaptable to dynamic project timelines.
