A research technician (job title: Research Specialist) position is available in the laboratory of Renee Read in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia USA. www.reneereadlab.org/, @RRead_Lab
Successful applicants will join our highly interactive and collaborative translational research team to study the genetics and biology of pediatric glioblastoma.
Due to new funding, we are hiring a new Research Specialist to work with animal models and human organoid models of pediatric glioblastomas to examine the origins of tumor stem cells and their interactions with glia in the neural microenvironment. Our research program uses a multidisciplinary approach to analyze the function of developmental cell-signaling pathways, such as the receptor tyrosine kinases in glial tumorigenesis and glial development. Our approach uses several brain tumor model systems, including human patient-derived human glioblastoma stem cells and tissues, novel human organoid tumor models, and genetic animal models of glioblastoma. Members of our lab will have opportunities to use our pre-clinical models to learn more about therapeutics, neural stem cell biology, epigenetics, functional genomics, and bioinformatics in team oriented projects that involve collaborations with other neuro-oncology research groups in the Departments of Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Pathology, and Human Genetics. We welcome scientists from diverse backgrounds who seek to enter this dynamic field.
Applicants interested in translational research and science education are particularly encouraged to apply. This is a great position for someone with ample cell culture experience who is seeking a longer term research position related to neuroscience, stem cell biology, or cancer biology. Candidates interested in lab management are preferred. Former research specialists from the Read lab have advanced to medical school, graduate school, and research scientist positions in industry.
To apply, please send CV, brief description of research interests, and contact information of three references to Dr. Renee Read directly at
