The experimental research laboratories in the Institute of Molecular Cardiology conduct multidisciplinary research to explore cardioprotective mechanisms and develop novel therapeutic strategies and interventions for patients with heart failure. The Institute of Molecular Cardiology seeks a Research Technician II to assist in implementing all aspects of the Institute’s research-related activities. This individual will perform experiments in the research laboratory and assist other laboratory members in doing the same. This role involves cell counting and endotoxin testing on stem cell products used for cell therapy studies in clinical trials and assisting with experimental procedures, collection and analysis of data, and maintenance of equipment in the experimental animal laboratory. Experience with cell biology techniques, including cell counting, endotoxin testing, Trypan blue exclusion, etc., and with histology and pathology techniques (such as tissue fixation, sectioning, staining, etc.) is desirable. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, proactive, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. This position is funded by federal grants, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of the funds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform cell counting, endotoxin testing, and related duties as assigned for cell therapy studies in clinical trials.
Assist with in vivo experiments using animal models of cardiovascular diseases.
Perform pathology and immunohistochemical analyses.
Record and summarize data collected from clinical trials and from experimental animal procedures.
Use online databases to collect information needed for the performance of experimental procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient in one or more experimental procedures related to biomedical research.
Proficient in use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet browsing.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience with endotoxin testing and cell counting.
Experience with cellular biology, thawing, and culture of cells.
Experience with pathology and immunohistochemical analysis
Should be able to work flexible hours.
Target Compensation Maximum:
$70,623.00Target Compensation Minimum:
$47,048.00Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
