Job Description - Residence Life Coordinator - LaGrange


Job Type

Full-time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Schedule: Full-time, Eight hours a day, 5 days/week, primarily Tuesday through Saturday 10AM-6PM 

The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive residential community within a luxury high-rise building that serves a diverse population, including families and individuals transitioning from homelessness. This role designs and implements community-building activities, promotes resident engagement, and supports housing stability through relationship building and collaboration with service staff. 

The Residence Life Coordinator plays a critical role in bridging the culture of a high-end residential environment with trauma-informed, supportive housing practices, ensuring all residents feel safe, respected, and connected. 


Requirements

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate a monthly calendar of inclusive events and activities for residents of all ages and backgrounds 
  • Develop programming that promotes community integration between market-rate residents and formerly unhoused individuals 
  • Organize workshops focused on life skills, wellness, financial literacy, parenting, and social connection 
  • Partner with local organizations and vendors to enhance programming opportunities 
  • Gather resident feedback to continuously improve engagement efforts 
  • Build positive relationships with residents and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment 
  • Serve as a visible and approachable presence in the building 
  • Support conflict resolution efforts in collaboration with property management and clinical staff 
  • Encourage resident participation and leadership in community initiatives 
  • Work closely with the Residential Services Program Manager and Saint Francis House team to align programming with supportive housing goals 
  • Coordinate with case managers, clinicians, and property management to identify resident needs and trends 
  • Act as a liaison between residents, property management, and service staff when appropriate 
  • Support lease compliance and community expectations through engagement—not enforcement 
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices in all interactions 
  • Be mindful of the unique needs of formerly unhoused residents, including barriers to engagement 
  • Help reduce isolation and promote housing stability through meaningful connection 
  • Maintain accurate records of events, attendance, and resident engagement metrics 
  • Manage program budget for activities and supplies 
  • Prepare monthly reports on programming outcomes and participation  
  • Ensure all activities comply with building policies and safety guidelines 

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Haitian Creole) preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a team with compassion, humility, flexibility, authenticity, and professionalism.
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to taking a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach. 
  • Ability to apply best practices in the care of individuals with substance use and mental health disorders
  • Commitment to harm reduction practices and values.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Creativity and eagerness to adapt traditional clinical approaches within a permanent housing setting.
  • Ability to network and build relationships with external organizations and strengthen internal partnerships with other SFH programs.
  • Knowledge of Boston-based treatment providers and resources.
  • Knowledge of and confidence in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills 

Experience & Education:

  •  LCSW required, LICSW preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years postgraduate experience working with highly vulnerable, high-barrier individuals with complex needs.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision.
  • Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience with crisis intervention, emergency response systems, and short-term stabilization
  • Lived experience with homelessness and/or recovery a plus 

Work Environment & Activity:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 10-20 pounds independently.
  • Frequently moving throughout multi-level building.
  • Constantly operate computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine, computer printer, projector.
  • Eight hours a day, 5 days/week, primarily Tuesday through Saturday 10AM-6PM 
  • On rare occasions, extended evening and weekend hours may be necessary, and would be determined and scheduled in advance.
  • On-call rotation with other housing leadership team members
