Job Description - Resident Account Representative



Full-time


Description

Position Summary

Coordinates admission to Courtyard of Natchitoches related to financial obligation of patients and their families.

Primary Responsibilities

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary responsibilities.

  1. Address residents' and families with concerns about their accounts
  2. Assist with Medicaid applications
  3. Assist with Medicaid renewals applications
  4. Update Medicare and Medicaid rates in EMR system
  5. Works with residents and/or families to ensure Medicaid payment for room and board.
  6. Assist with billing concerns
  7. Generates and mails statements
  8. Receives payments from residents and families
  9. Processing payments and refunds
  10. Weekly Bank deposits and cashing checks
  11. Researching account issues
  12. Communicate with residents/families about past due balances
  13. Obtain authorization from Commercial Payers for SNF Patients
  14. Bill residents for room and board, bill Medicare/Medicaid/HMOs/Managed Care, get insurance authorizations for admissions.
  15. Maintain resident fund account
  16. Assist Residents in paying bills from fund account
  17. Hand deliver Resident monthly Allowance
  18. Responsible for month end reports for Courtyard of Natchitoches AR monthly meeting
  19. Open and disperse incoming mail
  20. Assist Social Worker with Admission Process as needed

Competencies

  1. Ability to communicate well with people, one-on-one, both in person and on the telephone.
  2. Knowledge of communication equipment and systems.
  3. Knowledge of Patient Accounting systems.
  4. Ability to hear, speak, read, understand, write, and communicate verbally in English.
  5. Knowledge of government regulations and admission requirements on the federal, state, and local levels.
  6. Ability to adhere to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center policies and procedures.
  7. Ability to interact with all customers (co-workers, patients, families, physicians, vendors, etc.) of NRMC with hospitality and the highest standards of customer service, exhibiting professionalism and a spirit of teamwork. Each associate should have an understanding that he or she represents NRMC and should act accordingly and in a manner that demonstrates respect and pride for this organization.

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent.
