RESIDENT ADVISOR (OVERNIGHT SHIFT)

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The overnight Resident Advisor (RA) provides supervision, guidance, care, and safety to youth residing in our transitional and emergency housing programs

TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY. THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise and monitor residents to maintain a safe, stable, and healthy environment
• Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention skills as needed in a supportive and caring manner
• Model effective and respectful communication and problem-solving with residents while creating a standard of healthy communication for residents
• Implement an established structure of support and accountability within the program to allow youth to fully develop in all areas of their lives
• Complete and submit all required reports promptly
• Document all services and/or incidents according to program policies
• Maintain ongoing dialogue with case management and administrative staff around areas of youth success and areas that participate in ongoing training, staff development, and program evaluation activities
• Attends the PRCC and program-specific and organizational activities and meetings, including but not limited to the monthly organization-wide General Assembly
• Participates in organizational annual events including but not limited to the Puerto Rican People’s Parade, Fiesta Boricua, Three Kings Day, and Haunted Paseo Boricua
• Performs other functions assigned

This position requires compliance with all of The PRCC’s written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, all policies and procedures, and Regulatory Compliance requirements. Compliance will be considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with the target population
• Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays
• Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk youth, providing appropriate support, motivation, and compassion

SKILLS:

• Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred 
• Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills 
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
