Job Description - Resident Benefits & Finance Assistant

The Resident Benefits Specialist will have responsibility for processing forms and documents for residents' SNAP benefits. This person will also be responsible for resident wage record keeping, medical bill processing, assisting the ISS Program with annual budget renewals, and providing support to the Finance Department for various tasks.

SNAP Processing

  • Facilitate all SNAP applications and confirm   all required documents are present & completed to ensure successful   approval of applications, including but not limited to following up   communication with all local County Department of Social Services. 
  • Communicate all status updates with the SNAP   lists and trackers. 

Communicate all SNAP application website oddities and unusual status findings. 

  • Communicate with PT Benefit Specialist of upcoming expected County phone interviews and complete SNAP interviews as   needed. 
  • Access and resolve all denials within a timely manner. 
  • Communicate with non-rep payee families to   assist them in applying for SNAP benefits.  
  • Process all movements and dis-enrollments as   they relate to SNAP benefits with local County Departments of Social Services. 
  • Complete the Annual SNAP Change Report form. 
  • Complete the Representative Payee report documenting monies spent annually. 
  • Assist in documenting procedures related to SNAP processing and facilitating.

Countable  Wages and Medical Bills

  • Send individual's pay stubs to Social Security via telefax and file. 
  • Assist in the calculation of Countable income,  communicate with Finance, Program Services, and create letters. 
  • Communicate with doctors/hospital billing departments to update Medicaid/Medicare information not given on appointment.

 Annual Housing Subsidies

  • Assist ISS Program Services with annual renewals.

 

Other

  •  Assist Residential Benefit Specialist with   required documents necessary to help assist Residents to rectify any   overpayments they may have.
  • Send out paperwork for any overpayments to   obtain signatures and complete Laserfiche processing for payment to Social   Security. 
  • Assist Residential Benefit Specialist to   ensure all required documents for the Medicaid recertification are acquired and appropriately filed electronically. 
  • Work with Benefits, Finance, and Program Services to aid in protecting Resident benefits. 
  • Assist Finance with the Time study process,  including but not limited to uploading the document to SharePoint,  communicating with staff, monitoring progress during the time study period,  processing the completed time studies, and entering data to FundEZ. 
  • Continue to identify ways to streamline processes and communicate recommendations. 
  • All other tasks as assigned or needed to assist in the protection of benefits of the Agency’s residents and to fulfill other Finance and Benefits functions. 

Requirements

  • Associates degree with two (2) years related office experience preferred 
  • HS Diploma/GED and four years related office experience. 
  • Accurate math skills
  • Data entry experience
  • Familiar with Excel Spreadsheets
  • Ability to work with limited direct supervision
  • Good communication skills
