Job Description - Resident Engineer

Our Construction Management team is seeking a Resident Engineer for construction management of heavy civil transportation projects. This position will report to the Sector Manager and will require 10+ years of experience in construction as a Resident Engineer, preferably with DDOT and/or MD SHA experience. The candidate will be responsible for supervision and inspection of construction work and monitoring of contractor activities for compliance with all state/district and federal laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements. The candidate will be a licensed, Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington, D.C., Maryland and/or Virginia, with the ability to obtain a P.E. in those jurisdictions through reciprocity.
Responsibilities:
Conduct construction supervision and field inspection for roadway and/or bridge construction projects.
Coordinate between field inspectors and contractors representative to supervise the work being performed and testing being conducted.
Monitor the progress of the work and report any major deviations from schedule, contract price, or quantity of the work.
Support construction manager in project management, contract administration, and quality assurance and control.
Support construction manager in coordination with utility companies, and all involved government agencies and public outreach with respect to all aspects of construction.
Track submittals by contractor to ensure reviews and approvals are in place prior to construction.
Maintain records, books, docs, papers, accounting records relevant to the cost incurred during the performance of the work.
Perform final inspection, preparation of punch list, contract completion, final acceptance and close out.
Attend progress meetings and prepare correspondence.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
P.E. license in DC required and at least 10+ years of experience in construction experience as a Resident Engineer. Alternate State P.E. Licensure acceptable with ability to obtain DC within 6 months of hire.
Experience in the execution of Highways and Bridges projects as Resident Engineer preferred.
Candidate must have access to reliable transportation.
Must have the knowledge and ability to utilize computers, including the latest versions of office productivity and project management software, in daily activities.
Training certification by DDOT, WMATA, AMTRAK and CSX is preferred but not required.

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $139,700 - $209,500 annually for this position and local market.
