Job Summary: Resident RN Clinician II is a novice to the nursing profession and is a participant in the Nursing Residency Program (NRP). This role focuses on learning to apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to patient care, using learned facts and rules to guide practice. With experience, the resident begins to use the Synergy Model for Patient Care to recognize patient uniqueness and modify care accordingly. Primary duties and responsibilities: Clinical Practice and Assessment: 1. Learns to apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to a variety of patient care situations. 2. Draws on learned facts and rules to organize care and guide practice. 3. Demonstrates basic assessment skills. 4. Begins to recognize the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes. 5. Evaluates patient's response to planned care. 6. Documents the nursing process accurately and in the appropriate format (e.g. computer, clinical pathway, and chart) with assistance when necessary. 7. Functions as Charge Nurse only when assigned due to extenuating circumstances. Communication and Teamwork: 1. Develops listening skills. 2. Identifies barriers to communication and seeks assistance in facilitating communication. 3. Respects and maintains confidential information. 4. Demonstrates care and concern for patients and families. 5. Acts promptly to help patients and families in routine situations. Learning, Education, and Professional Development: 1. Successfully completes residency program and successfully completes orientation and is able to care for assigned patients independent of preceptor. 2. Recognizes own performance limitations and seeks assistance when necessary. 3. Begins to identify patient and family learning needs and utilizes resources to meet those needs. 4. Verbalizes awareness of AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care. 5. Identifies own learning needs and seeks resources to meet those needs. 6. Completes and turns in Orientation Skills Checklist. 7. Completes annual regulatory/safety/compliance tests on-line. 8. Attends 75% of dept-based meetings (defined by dept leadership). 9. Meets attendance requirements. 10. Achieves required points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain role. Operations and Delegation: 1. Begins to develop time management skills. 2. Begins to develop delegation skills based on the synergy model of care. 3. Able to access and locate policies and procedures on line. 4. Able to locate and access supporting sources of evidence-based research reference(s) cited with each policy and procedure on line. 5. Ensures utilization of appropriate supplies to deliver patient care. 6. Charges for supplies appropriately. Compliance and Health Requirements: 1. Annual fit testing. 2. Annual health assessment completed in month of hire.

 

Qualifications: Minimum required: Education - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Experience - Must have less than 12 months experience within the past five years. Licensure - All candidates must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia. Certifications - 1. BLS certification. 2. ACLS may be required in designated departments. 3. If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status Eligible Participant Requirements: 1. Entry-level nurses who have graduated from an accredited prelicensure nursing program. 2. Entry-level nurses serving in their first nursing role are required to participate in the NRP. 3. Consideration will be given to factors such as personal or family commitments and military deployment when considering exceptions to the requirement that no longer than 12 months shall elapse from the time of graduation from the prelicensure nursing program to admission into the residency program.

 

Physical Requirements: (Medium-Heavy) 36-75 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 20-35 lbs, 34-66% of the workday; (frequently); 10-20 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 75 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 35 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking; Occasional sitting; Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing); Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Environmental Factors: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure; Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors; Communicable diseases; Electrical shock; Floor Surfaces; Hot/Cold Temperatures; Indoor/Outdoor conditions; Latex; Lighting; Patient care/handling injuries; Radiation; Shift work; Travel may be required; Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators; environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
